Admiralty Shipyards has delivered the Tverskoi Most tanker to the customer (Sovcomflot) today, PRIME-TASS reports. As Vladimir Aleksandrov, Director General of Admiralty Shipyards FSUE, noted at the acceptance ceremony, it is the 7th vessel of the series built for Sovcomflot. The tanker is designed for simultaneous transportation of up to 5 different types of cargo including crude oil, oil products, vegetable and animal oils. The vessel is fitted with automated systems for navigation control. The tanker’s length is 182.5 meters, breadth – 32.5 meters, depth – 17.5 meters, deadweight – 47,400 tons, speed – 15 knots. The tanker is designed to sail in ice-free waters.
According to Sergei Burima, deputy Director General of JSC Sovcomflot, 25% of Sovcomflot’s current orders are placed at Admiralty Shipyards. These contracts provision construction of nine 47,000-dwt tankers and two arctic shuttle-tankers for marine transportation of oil from Prirazlomnoye oil field. The construction of the 8th vessel of the series is coming to the end.
The first shuttle-tanker has been laid down already. It is to be named Michail Ulyanov, the second one is to get the name of Kirill Lavrov. According to Burima, no prolongation of the series is planned. "We re interested in other series and plan ordering of two 70,000-dwt tankers for transportation of oil products from the Baltic ports."
As PRIME-TASS reported earlier, the Tverskoi Most tanker was launched April 27, 2007. On May 18, 2006, JSC Sovcomflot signed a number of contracts with Admiralty Shipyards FSUE for construction of tankers with a total value exceeding $350 million.
