In January-July 2007, Ukraine’s railways increased the volume of cargo transportation by 10.1%, year-on-year (+26.6 million tonnes), to 290.6 million tones, Ukraine’s Ministry of Transport and Communications reports according to RZD-Partner. In the reported period railway transit grew by 26% (+8.3 million tonnes) to 40.4 million tonnes.
The share of transit transportation made 13.7% in 2007, while in January-July 2006 it made only 12.2%. Transit of oil products grew over two-fold, ore – over 1.5 times, grain – 2 times., while transit of ferrous metal and coal decreased.
