More than 41 container ships were stuck outside the Belgian ports of Antwerp and Ghent at 1500 GMT on Monday due to a strike by pilots, which is to continue on Tuesday, the port's chief pilot said. "The strike will continue," said Glenn Liekens, chief pilot of Antwerp, one of Europe's largest harbours. Pilots, who are not members of trade unions, are protesting against pay and working conditions. Liekens said the major customer affected by the strikes was the privately-owned Mediterranean Shipping Company as well as OOCL (Orient Overseas), Gearbulk and Grimaldi.
