Lithuania-based refinery Mazeikiu Nafta will be stopped for a month and a half from September 20-es, Director General of Mazeikiu Nafta told August 30 after his meeting with Lithuania’s Prime Minister. The decision is caused by the lack of qualified personnel needed for repair of the burnt plant.
According to the plant’s head, the company tried to find personnel in Lithuania but the number attracted was insufficient and they had to deliver personnel from other facilities of PKN Orlen (Poland), which had negative effect on the activities of the Polish company. The majority of the personnel will be delivered from Poland.
Mazeikiu Nafta management is sure no deficit will hit the Baltic states, as they will be supplied with fuel from the reserves to be formed before the repair starts.
The fire started on October 12, 2006. The damage is estimated at over $100 million.
