Odense Steel Shipyard in the A. P. Møller-Mærsk Group has signed up with the Greeek Carras Hellas Group for a series of four capesize bulk carriers of 180,000 DWT, the new capesize segment. The new ship design has been developed in cooperation between the shipyard and Carras Hellas Group. The series will be delievered in 2009 and 2010 and it covers the remaining capacity of Odense Steel Shipyard to 2010.
The Odense shipyard has not delivered any bulk carriers since 1982/83, when the two Elsam Capesize-bulk carriers, Elsam Jylland and Elsam Fyn, were delivered.
The Carras Hellas Group operates a fleet of 18 bulk carriers with capesize as the main segment.
