Hutchison Port Holdings wins bid for deep-water port in Pakistan

Hutchison Port Holdings, the container port operator held by Hutchison Whampoa (0013), has confirmed it won the bid to develop a deep-water container port in Pakistan. HPH was among nine consortiums that bid for the Karachi Port Trust project.
Sources said the build-operate-transfer project located to the east of Keamari Groyne, will be built at a cost of US$550 million (HK$4.29 billion). The lease will be for 25 years extendable for another 25 years.
Meanwhile, HPH's Alexandria International Container Terminals yesterday celebrated the official opening of two new container terminals at Alexandria Port and El Dekheila Port in Egypt.
