Throughput of Berdyansk port (Ukraine) up 32.6% in H1 07, y-o-y

In January-June 2007, Commercial Seaport of Berdyansk (Ukraine) handled 1.066.1 million tonnes of cargo (+32.6%, year-on-year), the port’s administration reports according to RBC-Ukraine. The port’s export grew 1.8-fold – to 825.9 thou tonnes, import – 11 times to 92.2 thou tonnes, transit fell by 56.9% - to 147.3 thou tonnes. The port attributes the increase to higher transshipment of dry bulk cargo – ore, coke and coal (+6.4%), rolled metal and other general cargo (5.7-fold), liquid bulk cargo – by 45.2%.
