Empty containers from Tianjin to Hong Kong surged 120 per cent from January to July

Empty containers sent to Hong Kong from Tianjin surged 120 per cent from January to July year on year to 72,000 TEU, according to statistics from the Tianjin customs, the, Xinhua reports.
Boxes exported via Tianjin to Japan dropped fell 10.2 per cent to 100,000 units, while those to US dropped 8.1 per cent to 45,000 units.
Boxes exported to Hong Kong, Japan and US amounted to 217,000 units, accounting for 68.5 per cent of Tianjin's empty container export total.
