In January-July 2007, Ukraine’s water transport carried 13.246 million tonnes of cargo (11.8%, year-on-year), Ukraine’s State Statistics Committee reports according to RZD-Partner. The growth should be attributed to higher volumes of internal transportation which made coastal-trade transportation the leading sector accounting for over 50% of total volume of water cargo.
International transportation decreased by 4.8%, year-on-year to 6.61 million tones. The decreased was registered in both marine and river sectors of international transportation – by 5.4% and 4.7% respectively.
