Throughput of port Kavkaz down 8.1% in Jan-Aug 07, y-o-y

In January-August 2007, port Kavkaz handled 4.270.99 million tonnes of cargo, PortNews IAA learnt from Taman-harbor transshipment fell 3.3 times to 890,550 tonnes. Port Kavkaz is situated at the border of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov at Kerch Strait from the side of Russia. The port is ice-free, so it is able to handle both river vessels (draft of up to 5 meters) and sea vessels (off-harbor handling of vessels with a draft of up to 11 meters). The territory of the port is crossed by a 2,600-meter long railway line. The port handles loose cargo, as well as general cargo and timber.
