Fangcheng port box volume surges 55pc in first seven months

Container volume of Fangcheng port in Guangxi surged 55 per cent in the first seven months of this year to a new record of 104,000 TEU, Xinhua reported.
Fangcheng port recently added a new container service to Vietnam's Haiphong with stops in Hong Kong and Shekou and now the port has had more than 20 international container services, operating 10 foreign trade container voyages per week, the report said.
Fangcheng Port Group has also added more equipment to its No 10 container berth and invested CNY150 million (US$19.88 million) in transforming the No 9 berth into a container facility, the report said.
When the No 9 berth is completed in December this year, Fangcheng port will have two container berths with 600,000 TEU capacity, 600 metre quay line and 300,000 square metre container depot, the report said.
The No 9 berth can accommodate 5,600 TEU container vessels while the No 10 berth can accommodate the third generation container vessels, the report added.
