In January-August 2007, throughput of the port of Archangelsk grew by 4.7%, year-on-year, to 3552.7 thou tonnes, PortNews IAA learnt from the port’s Administration. In the reported period, the port’s stevedoring companies accepted 312.1 thou tonnes of cargo (+30%, year-on-year) including 196.8 thou tonnes of import cargo (+77.3%), 115.2 thou tonnes of coastal trade cargo (-10.8%). Import of containerized cargo totaled 34.4 thou tonnes (+0.4%), machines and equipment - 1.234 thou tonnes (-28.2%), other general cargo - 161.2 thou tonnes (2.1-fold growth, year-on-year). Transshipment of general cargo within the framework of incoming coastal trade cargo totaled 79.498 thou tonnes (-30.1%). Container turnover amounted to 2.877 thou tonnes (-60.6%). Transshipment of mineral-and-construction cargoes totaled 2.45 thou tonnes (transshipment of mineral-and-construction cargo was not carried out in January-August 2006).
In the 8-month period the port of Archangelsk dispatched 3240.7 thou tonnes of cargo (+2.7 %) including 1045.3 thou tonnes of export cargo (+13.1%), 2195.3 thou tonnes of coastal trade cargo (-1.6%). Export of containerized cargo totaled 43.566 thou tonnes (+40.2%), timber - 384.677 thou tonnes (-6.6%). Transshipment of scrap metal amounted to 104.338 thou tonnes (-34.4%), cellulose – 53.639 thou tonnes (-37.9%), cardboard and paper – 12.464 thou tonnes (-39.8%). Transshipment of other general cargo amounted to 1.366 thou tonnes (2.6-fold decrease against January-August 2006). Shipment of oil and oil products within the framework of coastal trade cargo amounted to 1,765.7 thou tonnes, machines and equipment – 8.735 thou tonnes (+27.4%), metal – 40.924 thou tonnes (-24.1%), other general cargo – 231.115 thou tonnes (+35.7%, year-on-year), containerized cargo - 60.667 thou tonnes (-3.5%).
