According to the public statements of the Chief Technical Dept of the Russian Navy Vice-Admiral Nikolai Karachun nearly 50% of the naval ships have the prolonged life time and are maintained with regard to various sorts of restrictions, Shipbuilding.ru reports. For part of the ships the life time cannot be prolonged already in any way. They have to be decommissioned. Prolongation of the life time (resource parameters) became one of the paramount problems for the Russian Navy. To solve this problem the Navy has to appeal to the designers of the ships, shipbuilding and ship-repair enterprises. Technical Dept deals with special research regarding the ways and methods which allow keeping a maximum number of the ships, capable of missions without restricting their technical characteristics. Lack of financing of the ship repair leads to the increase of its duration and accordingly higher prices.
Russian Navy fights outdating
At the same time the Admiral disclaimed all publications regarding the status of the Russia’s only aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov. According to him the ship is again in a good shape and can fulfill its missions anywhere on the globe.
