"Whereas in 2006 trade between our countries amounted to 38.3 million U.S. dollars, the level for the first half of 2007 exceeded 31 million U.S. dollars," the Turkmen leader said.
Nazarbaev said "Kazakhstan is firmly determined to establish a strategic partnership" with Turkmenistan "in every way."
Kazakhstan is ready to build up cooperation in developing [gas fields] and transporting gas to foreign markets not only along the northern route but also along any other transportation route - western, eastern or southern," Nazarbaev said.
Nazarbaev expressed interest in developing Turkmen offshore hydrocarbon resources in the Caspian Sea and advocated more extensive cooperation in agriculture and in the transportation industry.
