Ukraine’s railway transports 81.2 million tonnes of coal and coke in 7M 07

In January-July 2007, volume of coal and coke transported by Ukraine’s railways grew by 4.5% to 81.2 million tonnes, RZD-Partner reports. Transshipment of coal grew by 2.6% to 73.8 million tonnes, coke – by 26% to 7.3 million tonnes.

Transit climbed by 18.8% to over 12 million tonnes, import – by 37% to 6.7 million tonnes, export – by 7% to 2.45 million tonnes.

As for the sector of coke transshipment, positive dynamics was ensured by foreign-economic activities of Ukrzaliznitsa, while internal transportation decreased. Import grew over 1.5-fold to 1.3 million tonnes, transit and export climbed by 10% to 0.46 million tonnes and 0.47 million tonnes respectively.

Port transshipment of coke grew 1.7-fold to 0.3 million tonnes. Export accounted for 98% of growth.
