On September, 2007 Primorsk Shipping Corporation took delivery of the new tanker PRISCO Alcor. It is the second vessel in the Suezmax tankers series the company has built at Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI).
The tanker with ice-class 1A classified by Det Norske Veritas is designed for the year-around transportation from the Baltic Sea particularly from Primorsk port. Due to the draft of 15 m, the tanker loaded to a full draft of 166 000 tonnes, will be able to pass the straits with the limited depth. Father Tikhon, the representative of Sakhalin Eparchy, blessed the vessel and the crew. Nataliya Guseva, the chief of юридический division, became the sponsor of the new tanker.
The new company’s vessel was named PRISCO Alcor as the star in the constellation of Great Bear. The crew is headed by one of the best captains of PRISCO Vladimir Balyberdin. Almost two months ago the first Suezmax tanker of this series PRISCO has been handed over by HHI to the company and will begin transportation in the Baltic Sea in the end of September.
