Zhejiang port's container volume surges 35pc in first eight months

Zhejiang provincial ports handled 6.38 million TEU from January to August this year, a strong growth of 35.3 per cent year on year, reports Xinhua.
Total cargo throughput of Zhejiang ports surged 109.1 per cent to 579.73 million tons in the first eight months of this year. Coastal ports contributed 378.6 million tons, an increase of 113.8 per cent, while river ports contributed 201.07 million tons, up 101.2 per cent.
In August alone, Zhejiang ports handled 890,000 TEU, up 28.3 per cent and 76.23 million tons of cargo, rising 104.3 per cent, the report said.
