Dalian port suspends marine traffic

Marine traffic at the Chinese port of Dalian has been suspended from Wednesday afternoon as Typhoon Wipha bulldozes its way in a northeast direction.
The typhoon has been downgraded to a tropical storm, moving northeastward at speed between 20-70 kilometres per hour (km/h).
Although marine traffic is affected, Chinese bunker supplier Chimbusco said bunker deliveries in Dalian have not been suspended but are subject to weather conditions. Dalian port is located on the southern tip of the northeastern Liaoning Province.
Marine warnings were issued on Wednesday evening as rainstorms are forecast to hit south and east Liaoning on Thursday.
The typhoon has passed Shanghai with rains and wind weakening on Wednesday evening.
Wipha is expected to enter Jiangsu Province in the early hours of Thursday before passing over the Yellow River on Friday morning, according to the China Meteorological Administration.
About 2.7 million people in Fujian, Jiangsu, Shanghai and Zhejiang had been evacuated and relocated since yesterday evening.
