Lithuania’s railway transports 35.5 million tonnes of cargo in 8M07

In January-August 2007, Lietuvos gelezinkeliai (Lithuania’s railway) transported 35.5 million tonnes of cargo (+5.3%, year-on-year), RZD-Partner. The volume of international transportation grew by 10.9% to 27.4 million tonnes, while internal transportation fell by 10.2% to 8 million tonnes.  According to data provided by Lithuania’s department of statistics, the railway’s transit transportation accounted for 48.1% of all cargo transported by Lietuvos gelezinkeliai. In August 2007, the company’s throughput grew by 7.1% to 4.687 million tonnes. In 2006, Lietuvos gelezinkeliai transported 50.2 million tonnes of cargo (+1.9%, year-on-year).
