Ukraine’s Government has prepared the Program for Ukraine’s economic and social development for 2008, which provisions development of container facilities of the ports of Iljichevsk, Khersona and Berdyansk, RZD-Partner reports. The document developed by the Economics Ministry is to be considered by EBRD as a strategic investor.
According to pre-project feasibility study the programs will cost EUR 32, 26.9 and 16.7 million respectively. In the port of Iljichevsk it is planned to reconstruct the berths, in Kherson – to build of a 70,000 TEU terminal, in Berdyansk – to develop the facilities in order to raise the port’s capacity to 30,000 TEU.
All the above projects are to be implemented with participation of EBRD. As of today, EBRD participates in reconstruction of berths No 7-9 of the port of Iljichevsk. The project’s value is EUR 26 million.
