Ports of Baltic states increase throughput by 0.3% in 2007 to 139.4 million tonnes

In 2007, the ports of the Baltic states increased throughput by 0.3%, year-on-year, to 139.434 million tonnes, Latvian statistics service reports according to Gudok.Ru. In the reported period the ports of Latvia handled 62.434 million tonnes of cargo (+4.9%, year-on-year), Lithuania – 31.936 million tonnes (+8.4%), Estonia – 44.853 million tonnes (-10%). The highest volumes were handled by the port of Tallinn – 36.028 million tonnes (-12.7%). The port of Ventspils handled 31.037 million tonnes (+6.8%), Klipeda – 27.36 million tonnes (+15.9%). In 2006, the ports of Baltic states handled 138.765 million tonnes of cargo. Latvian ports accounted for 42.9%, Estonian ports – 35.9%, Lithuanian – 21.2%.
