Baltic Customs tests advance cargo declaration scheme
The Kronstadt post of the Baltic Customs cleared the first vessel using the system of Ship Arrival Notification and Advance Cargo Declaration on April 27. The tool was first tested by the regional customs on April 10, the Baltic Customs said on Thursday.
The cargo clearance of the M/V Jork Reliance from the port of Hamburg laden with auto parts was conducted on the marine border-crossing point by Baltic Customs in conjunction the carrier HMM (Hyundai Merchant Marine CO, LTD) in line with the testing of advance reporting scheme implemented by North-West Customs Directorate.
The information on the ship and her cargo was submitted to the FCS on April 26 by representatives of the carrier through the Preliminary information Portal, developed by SZTLS LLC. The information was processed at the Kronstadt post by web-based application.
"The experiment has shown the tool operability for data exchange between the shipping agents and Customs," the report says.
The Baltic Customs said it would continue applying the advance reporting scheme for other carriers as well.
