Sovcomflot and Vyborg Shipyard conclude agreement on cooperation

On February 07, 2008, Sovcomflot OJSC and Vyborg Shipyard OJSC concluded an agreement on cooperation in implementation of the following shipbuilding projects including construction of liquefied gas carriers, chemical tankers, semi-submersible floating drilling rigs and production platforms for shelf operations.

According to Sovcomflot, the document was signed by Sergei Frank, Director General of Sovcomflot, and by Valentin Levchenko, Director General of Vyborg Shipyard.

Sovcomflot Group of Companies is one of Russia's largest infrastructural enterprises. Its fleet comprises 124 vessels with a total deadweight of 8.7 million tonnes. The Group has a new-building order book of 31 vessels with an aggregate deadweight (DWT) of 2.8 million tonnes. The average age of the tanker fleet is six years, all tankers are double-hulled. The Sovcomflot Group is the global leader in MR product carriers, the second largest in the Aframax segment and it owns the biggest ice-class fleet. These market segments are the most in demand for Russia's foreign trade and Russian oil and gas companies.

Vyborg Shipyard JSC is one of the largest shipbuilding companies of the North-Western Region of Russia with over 50-years’ experience in shipbuilding. Since the Shipyard was founded (1948) there have been built more than 200 different vessels with deadweight up to 12,000 tons, total displacement over 1,300,000 tons. The company’s specialists have certificates of Lloyd’s Register of Shipping, Germanischer Lloyd, Bureau Veritas, RINA.
