Eastern Siberian Railways (ESR), an affiliate of Russian Railways, carried 2.25 million tonnes of crude oil to China in January-March 2008, down 1.1% from the same period of 2007, ESR told Interfax.
Oil shipments to China amounted to 751,000 tonnes in March alone. ESR is only exporting oil via the Zabaikalsk checkpoint in 2008, while oil shipments shipped through Naushki were cut last April. Eastern Siberia Railways passes through four constituent regions of
Russia: the Irkutsk and Chita regions, as well as the Buryatia and Sakha-Yakutia republics.
