In January-April, 2008, commercial seaport of Reni grew by 20%, year-on-year, to 1.2 million tonnes, the port’s administration informs according to RBC. According to the source, the share of transit grew to 835,700 tonnes. Total transshipment of loose dry cargo grew by 14.1%, to 902,200 tonnes, general cargo – up 2.2 times to 170,700 tonnes. In particular, transshipment of coal grew 2.1 times, oil cargo – up by 12.7%, metal – up 3.7 times.
Commercial seaport of Reni is linked to the Black Sea by Sulinski Canal. The port consists of three cargo districts and a ferry complex. It has 39 specialized berths for transshipment of general and containerized cargo, liquid bulk and packaged cargo, timber, dry bulk, heavy and ro-ro cargo as well as passenger vessels.
