Throughput of Murmansk port up 7% to 1.2 million tonnes in May 08

In May, 2008, Murmansk Commercial Seaport handled 1.282.866 million tonnes of different cargoes (+7%, year-on-year), the company informs.

In the reported period, the company handled 44 vessels and 17,783 wagons including 13,820 wagons with coal.

Transshipment of export cargo grew by 6.5%, year-on-year, to 1.244.202 million tonnes including 1.019.6 million tonnes of coal 138,700 tonnes of apatite, 11,000 tonnes of non-ferrous metal.

Total transshipment of general cargo amounted to 53,800 tonnes, which makes 83.6% against the result of the same period in 2007, dry bulk - 1.229 million tonnes (+8.2%, year-on-year).

In the 5-month period the port transshipped 6.074.759 million tonnes of different cargoes. In January-May, it handled 219 vessels and 88,992 wagons.
