Jacksonville Port growth leads to opening of new box warehouse

SOUTH AFRICAN company Big Lift Trucks plans to open its new US$5-million warehouse and a three-acre container storage site on the northside of Jacksonville Port in Florida in June.
The expansion of Japanese shipping line MOL and Korea's Hanjin Shipping are expected to help the company grow its import and export services, reported the Florida Times-Union.
Big Lift Trucks will open a 33,000-square-foot warehouse on Camden Road near Blount Island, reports the Florida Times-Union, Jacksonville, which said the facility will store full and empty containers and offer container packing and unpacking of materials such as timber, steel and granite.
The decision to open its US headquarters in Jacksonville was prompted by the port's ongoing growth, according to BLT vice president Ryan Mouritzen.
He noted that existing shipping links to Africa will allow the company to export large machinery for maintenance to its location in Durban, South Africa.
