President of OAO RZD Vladimir Yakunin, Chairman of Board of Directors of Ust-Luga Company OJSC, Adviser on Economy and Developmnet of Governor of Leningradsky region Valery Izraylit, Deputy Head of Federal Agency of Sea and River Transport, General Director of Commercial Sea Port Ust-Luga Vladimir Burtsev, acting Genaral Director of Ust-Luga Company Yury Pognaev took part in new special automobile complex opening.
Transshipment complex “Yug-2” (South-2) is the first special automobile terminal in Russia. The supply was carried out by Peugeot-Citroen concern’s forwarding company GEFCO, Japanese ship-owner K-Line and Commercial Sea Port Ust-Luga.
“Yug-2” allow to receive, store and transship 7 mln tons of cargoes per year. The complex are used for rolling cargoes, import cars, container and general cargoes. The terminal allows to receive ro-ro ships. It will provide storing and transshipment of 400,000 cars per year when it functions at full capacity 8.4 mln rubles were invested in the project. Capacity of the complex first stage is 100,000 cars per year. There is parking for cars temporary storing where 4,000 cars can be placed. Quantity of places for cars will be increased to 12,000. The second stage of the terminal will be put into operation in 2009. Its capacity will amount to 250,000 cars per year.
