Onega Shipyard launches m/v EMI Proud, head vessel of project DCV-33

On Friday, Onega Shipyard LLC launches the EMI Proud m/x, head vessel of project DCV-33 built to the order of Eestinova OU. The vessel’s mooring and sea trial as well as the delivery to the customer is scheduled for autumn 2008.

According to the company’s press center, the vessel was laid down in September 2007. The project was worked out by Maritime Engineering Bureau in Odessa. The vessel’s deadweight is 4,500 tonnes, length – 89.9 m, width - 14 m, depth – 7.15 m, hold capacity – 5,500 cubic meters, capacity of the main engine – 1,950 kWt.

The contract for construction sea-going vessels was signed with Eestinova OU in 2007. On March 18, 2008 the shipyard laid down the second vessel of the project - EMI Leader, the construction of which is to be completed in early 2009. Keel-laying of the third vessel of the project is scheduled for August 2008, forth – for November 2008. In the nearest year it is planned to build 15 vessels of the project DCV-33.

Simultaneously with construction of DCV-33 vessels the yard continues the construction of sea-and-river going vessels of project 005RSD03, Karelia type. In June 2008, the yard is to carry out sea trial and delivery of the Captain Konkin m/v, the tenth vessel of project 005RSD03. The eleventh and the twelfth vessels of the series are under construction. They are to be delivered in 2009.

Onega Shipyard LLC is situated on the shore of lake Onega in Karelia. The shipyard was created on the base of the shipbuilding and ship-repairing facilities of the OJSC White Sea and Onega shipping company and is its daughter company. Together with White Sea and Onega shipping company the Onega Shipyard is included in the transportation group of the companies of the Concern Orimi. The company specializes in construction, repair and modernization of vessels.
