In January-May, 2008, throughput of Archangelsk port grew by 12.9%, year-on-year, to 2.135.67 million tonnes, PortNews IAA learnt from Administration of Archangelsk Seaport. In the reported period, the port’s stevedoring companies accepted 202,640 tonnes of cargo (+12.6%, year-on-year) including 130,464 tonnes of import cargo (14.4%), 72,176 tonnes of coastal trade cargo (+9.5%). Import of containerized cargo totaled 43,624 tonnes (up 2.1 times, year-on-year). Transshipment of machines and equipment amounted to 4,707 tonnes (up 5.6 times, year-on-year). As for incoming coastal trade cargo, the volume of containerized cargo fell by 28.4%, year-on-year, to 1,899 tonnes, transshipment of ferrous metal totaled 1,839 tonnes (this type of cargo was not carried out in January-May 2007). Transshipment of other general cargo grew by 10.6% to 68,447 tonnes.
In the reported period, 1.933.03 million tonnes of cargo was dispatched from the port including 786,506 tonnes of export cargo, 1.146.525 million tonnes of coastal trade cargo (-5%, year-on-year). Export of containerized cargo amounted to 15,878 tonnes (+39.3%, year-on-year), timber - 236,127 tonnes (+4.7%), cellulose - 41,973 tonnes (+38.3%), cardboard and paper 10,901 tonnes (+61%).
Dispatched coastal trade crude and oil products amounted to 1.037.4 million tonnes (-1.3%), other general cargo– 65,387 tonnes (+16.8%). Dispatched coastal trade containerized cargo amounted to 13,044 tonnes (-74.4%, year-on-year).
