Kherson port lost nearly 300.000 t of freight flow since the beginning of 2008

Since the beginning of 2008, Kherson sea trading port (KSTP) has lost nearly 300.000 tonnes of freight flow, agrimarket.info cites the port head Andrey Egorov according to RZD-Partner.
According to A. Egorov, one of the main problems of KSTP is reducing of freight flow as main enterprises, cooperating with the port, sharply decreased production volumes.
In particular, Khersones Ltd., engaged in sun oil transshipment, and Kherson bread product factory.
A. Egorov underlined that the Government does not encourage grain export, and Kherson port is designed mainly for transshipment of grain cargoes.
At that, Head of the port expressed hope that May positive dynamics would remain to the end of the year.
A. Egorov added that for today a general scheme of port development till 2015 is approved. A branch line on the left bank of Dniepr is in the projecting phase. It is planned that all bulked cargoes will be taken out to the left bank, this would allow not only attracting of 2 mln tonnes of cargoes but also making better ecology of Kherson.
