In January-May, 2008, the port of Nakhodka handled 7.019.9 million tonnes of cargo (+27.3%, year-on-year), PortNews IAA learnt from Vostochny branch of RosMorPort FSUE. In the reported period, the port handled 4.375.5 million tonnes of dry cargo (+23.3%, year-on-year) including 862,300 tonnes of dry bulk and loose cargo (19.9 times up, year-on-year). Transshipment of ore grew 4.4 times to 172,500 tonnes, coal – 164.9 times to 626,500 tonnes. In the 5-month period the port handled 446,400 tonnes of timber (down 3.2 times) including 329,200 tonnes of round timber (domw 3.6 times), 117,200 tonnes of sawn timber (down 2 times). In the reported period the port handled 2.951.9 million tonnes of general cargo (+46.7%) including 2.405.5 million tonnes of ferrous metal (+34.9%), 99,700 tonnes of non-ferrous metal (+56%), 73,200 tonnes of scrap metal (+11.1%). Transshipment of refrigerated cargo amounted to 15,900 tonnes (+19.5%), packaged cargo – up 3-fold to 215,200 tonnes. The port’s container throughput increased 1.5 times to 23,600 TEU. Transshipment of oil products totaled 2.644.4 million tonnes (+34.6%).
