The top two provinces were followed by Shanghai with $104.3 billion in trade value, Beijing with $84.8 billion, Zhejiang with $65 billion, Shandong with $47.9 billion, Fujian with $27.2 billion and Tianjin with $25.2 billion.
Meanwhile, cumulated trade surplus of Jiangsu was $ 20.9 billion, the third highest on the provincial league tables.
A global economic slowdown affecting the developed world was offset by Jiangsu's exports to poorer countries which retained robust growth during this period.
Jiangsu's export value to Asean markets soared 46 per cent to $6.9 billion year on year. Exports to Africa surged 41 per cent to $1.4 billion while those to Latin America shot up 57 per cent up to $3.1 billion. Exports to India, valued $1.6 billion, soared 59 per cent. Export value to Russia jumped 61 per cent to $817 million.
The value of bilateral trade between Jiangsu and Asean rose 27.4 per cent to $13.7 billion. The growth was 6.7 per cent faster year on year. Import value from the Asean bloc rose to $6.8 billion, up 12.8 per cent, and the trade surplus stood at $103 million against a year-on-year $1.3 billion deficit.
