Greenway invests EUR 1.3 mln into development of its container trucks fleet

Holding Company Greenway (St. Petersburg) has invested some EUR 1.3 mln into the development of its container trucks fleet, the company announces. Greenway purchased 10 new three-axis haulers Scania and 10 container platforms, thus raising the number of trucks to 19 units.

From March the new automobiles are to be deployed at St. Petersburg-Moscow route, which is to enable Greenway to raise the share of cargo transported by the company’s own trucks. All the new automobiles will carry out transportation under customs regime. The possibility of customs to customs transportation as a customs carrier is an advantage of a forwarding company.

"Lots of customers wish to get bonded goods in Moscow though the cargo is delivered to Russia by sea. It is convenient to transport cargo from the port of St. Petersburg to Moscow since the company has a status of customs carrier,” Andrei Saveljev, Director General of Greenway, explains. However, Greenway clears the majority of cargo at the Baltic Customs in St. Petersburg. The company’s truck fleet is completely loaded with orders from regular customers of Greenway.

According to Andrei Saveljev, the volumes of cargo transported by customs carriers within the country is to grow following the growth of Russia’s foreign trade. "Regional trade develops very fast and many companies wish to carry out customs operations in their regions. This points to perspectives of the business related to customs transportation of cargo within Russia," Saveljev says.
