Port complex of Bulgaria to raise annual throughput to 35 mln t by 2009

By 2009, port complex of Bulgaria is to raise its throughput by 10.8%, to 35.7 million tonnes, Administration of Bulgarian Port and Flag forecasted at the international forum The Danube Summit-2008. Conference & Exhibition held in Constanta this month, RZD-Partner reports.

The fastest growth is to be demonstrated by the marine component (Black Sea ports of Varna, Balchek, Burgas) – by 11.7% in two years to 28.5 million tonnes. Throughput of the river ports (Danube) is to grow by 7.4% to 7.2 million tonnes.

In 2009-2015, the growth rates of the river ports are to exceed those of the marine sector, expert says. By 2015, throughput of marine ports is to grow by 25%, against 2009, to 35.7 million tonnes, while river segment is to grow by 47%, to 10.6 million tonnes.
