Ministry of Transport and Communications of Ukraine plans to build two new large seaports

The Ministry of Transport and Communications of Ukraine has developed the perspective plans for construction of two large seaports at Ukrainian coast – in Ochakov and Ust-Dunaisk. “The issue comes to construction of railway approaches,” Aleksands Velchenko, first deputy head of Odessa railway said according to RZD-Partner.

“We understand the projects’ perspectives and we could build a railway infrastructure,” Mr. Velchenko said June 26 at the Forum dedicated to the economics and management problems of railway transport held in Crimea.
According to the source, the projects on construction of new seaports in nodal points of the Ukrainian coast are of strategic importance of Ukraine.

According to Mr. Velchenko, 50 km of railway are to be built for Ochakov project and a railway line should be built to Ust-Dunaisk, which has no railway approaches today. Ukraine is interested today in development of seaports including Kherson, Genichesk, Ochakov, Vilkovo (Ust-Dunaisk).
