Dry dock and shipyard building to commence QII 2010 in Primorski Krai
The project on Far East Center of Shipbuilding will be launched in Zvezda plant in II quarter 2010. Vladimir Dmitriev, Chairman of state corporation “Bank of Development and Foreign Economic Activity” (Vnesheconombank), informed at a meeting with Vladimir Putin, reported Administration press service.
That is a dry dock and a shipyard for tankers, gas carriers and drilling platforms building. The building commencement is planned for II quarter of the following year so as to simultaneously start first keel lay down in 2011, reported Vladimir Dmitriev.
The project will be implemented on project financing basis, added Dmitriev. It means that most part of it will be financed by Vnesheconombank. But taking into consideration the orders that are preliminary discussed with Gasprom, Rosneft, Sovcomflot and a number of other companies it will be possible to get a payback within 10-15 years. RUR 35 billion is a total cost of this project, summed up Dmitriev.
Board of Directors of OJSC United Shipbuilding Corporation is reported to have approved the concept of shipbuilding development in the Far East. There were four plants defined to be involved in shipbuilding in the Far East. Zvezda in particular will be occupied in 250 thousand tons deadweight tankers-gas carriers building in Primorski Krai. It will require construction of large dry docks in the region.
