Ust-Luga port should commence operation in time and with maximum efficiency – V. Putin
Ust-Luga port (Leningrad region) should commence operation in time and with maximum efficiency, the Government press center cites RF Prime Minister Vladimir Putin as saying at his working meeting with Vladimir Dmitriev, Chairman of the state corporation “Bank of Development and Foreign Economic Activity (Vnesheconombank)”.
“Having visited Ust-Luga last week I found the project to be completed to a high extent when it comes to berth facilities, tanks and racks. One rack is ready with the other two having been laid down: for oil product transshipment and for port infrastructure. Office and customs buildings are highly completed,” Vladimir Dmitriev said when telling about Ust-Luga port in general.
“Resources invested by the Bank should be used efficiently and paid back in proper time so that the entire project could commence operation in time and with maximum efficiency. An integrated approach should be applied here and the issues are to be finally settled with the Ministry of Transport,” Vladimir Putin said in his turn.
In early September, the Supervisory Council of the state corporation “Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs” (VEB, Vnesheconombank) approved a $545 mln loan for creation of port infrastructure in Ust-Luga. According to Vladimir Dmitriev, the loan will be provided for an 8-year period to Rosneftebunker engaged in Ust-Luga infrastructure development. He also highlighted that VEB’s extended participation in the project will drive the increase of crude and oil products transshipment in Ust-Luga port to 30 million tonnes per year with a possibility to raise it.
