Russia to supply up to 10% of global LNG volume - Aleksandr Medvedev
Russia should supply up to 10% of the global LNG volume in the coming years, Aleksandr Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of Gazprom's Management Committee, said at the XIII International Sakhalin Oil & Gas conference 2009 opened today in Sakhalin.
According to him, Gazprom plans active development of its LNG business in all major segments of the cost chain: production, sea shipping and marketing as well as entry to gas consumers end markets.
According to Gazprom Information Administration, Medvedev stressed that in the coming years Russia should take one of the first positions in the list of the leading LNG producers and to supply up to 10% of the global LNG volume including some 17 million tonnes to be produced within the framework of Gazprom current projects – Sakhalin-2 and the first phase of Shtokman. In the future it will also include LNG from the second and the third phases of the Shtokman field as well as other LNG projects.
As Aleksandr Medvedev concluded, the company’s LNG production and supply strategy will enable Gazprom to transfer from spot trading and the status of a regional player to the status of a global participant in the world-wide LNG market.
