Cargo loading of Russian Railways down 19.5% to 816.7 mln t in Jan-Sep 09
In January-September 2009, the volume of cargo loaded by Russian railways fell by 19.5%, year-on-year, to 816.7 million tonnes, press center of Russian Railways OJSC reports. September loading fell by 11.3%, year-on-year, to 99 million tonnes.
In the 9-month period, transportation of coal totaled 199.116 million tonnes (-8.7%, year-on-year), coke – 7.481 million tonnes (-25.8%), crude and oil products – 169.495 million tonnes (-2.8%), iron and manganese ore - 70.311 million tonnes (-16.1%), ferrous metal – 47.024 million tonnes (-27.4%), scrap ferrous metal – 11.535 million tonnes (-47.4%), chemical and mineral fertilizers – 28.590 million tonnes (-18.8%), cement – 22.621 million tonnes (-23%), timber – 30.726 million tonnes (-31.2%), grain and milled product – 16.570 million tonnes (-0.4%), construction materials – 97.868 million tonnes (-37.6%).
In the reported period, cargo turnover fell by 16.1% to 1,364.2 bln t-km including 161.8 bln t-km in September (-5.8%).
