Volume of oil products off-harbour transhipment in the Port of Saint-Petersburg amounted to 2.58 million tons within May-September (navigation period) of 2009 against 2.45 million tons of the previous year. Thus transhipment volumes increased by 5.3%. In September 2009 the volume of the oil products delivered at the raid was 560,000 tons against 567,000 tons in September 2008, PortNews IAA learnt from CJSC In-Transit, which is the only stevedoring company that carries out off-harbour transhipment of oil products at 5A anchorage outside Kronshtadt in the Port of Saint Petersburg water area.
In-Transit manages the transhipment complex comprising three storage tankers this year. The tankers operate cargoes shipped in river vessels that deliver export oil products from oil refinery plants of the Central Russia along the Volgo-Balt system. A total of 2,122,000 tons of oil-fuel and 460,000 tons of gas oil were operated within the current navigation period.
Depending on the weather conditions the volume of oil products is predicted to amount to 3,000,000 tons late 2009, estimated In-Transit. The off-harbour transhipment complex operates in the summer navigation period (from late April till early November).
