Throughput of Odessa Commercial Sea Port down 21.8% to 20.55 mln t in Jan-Sep 09
In January-September, 2009, Odessa Commercial Sea Port handled 20.5507 million tonnes of cargo (-21.8%, year-on-year), the port’s press center reports. In September, the port’s throughput fell by 18.6%, year-on-year, to 2.1226 million tonnes.
In the 9-month period, the port’s container throughput fell by 40.02%, year-on-year, to 184,431 TEU including 26,858 TEU in September (-50.4%).
Odessa Commercial Sea Port is one of the largest ports of the Black-Azov Sea Basin. Technical facilities of the port allow handling over 14 million tons of dry cargoes and 14 million tons of liquid cargoes per year. In 2008, the port handed 34.5 million tonnes of cargo.
