From India to North Europe, the United Kingdom, East/West Mediterranean and Black Sea ports, rates will increase $150 per 20-foot equivalent unit.
The proposed increase for the trade from India to East Africa, Mozambique, South Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands will be $200 per 20-foot equivalent unit.
The Geneva-based company said the rate restoration is necessary to offer “efficient and reliable services to customers.”
The move comes just as the state-owned Shipping Corporation of India, which operates the weekly Indian-Subcontinent-Europe Service (ISES) in conjunction with MSC, announced plans to seek a similar rate increase, effective Oct. 10.
