Ukrainian CSP cargo turnover down 21% first 9 months, 2009

Cargo turnover of Commercial Seaports (CSP) of the Ukraine decreased by 21% (to 80,000,000 tons) within first 9 months, 2009 as compared to the corresponding period of 2008, informed press-service of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Ukraine


In particular, CSP Uzhny reduced its cargo transhipment volumes by 20.2% (13.15 million tons) within the first nine months of the current year. Transhipments of CSP Mariupolski decreased by 25.7% (to 9.4 million tons).


Within the nine-month period of 2009, CSP Reniiski witnessed 48.7 % (to 1.37 million tons) decrease of its transhipment volumes; Kerchenski CSP, on the contrary, increased its transhipments by 11% (up to 3.37 thousand tons) as compared to the corresponding period of 2008. Sevastopolski port turnover increased by 2.3% and amounted to 0.3 million tons.

 

It is necessary to remind that Odesski CSP reduced its transhipment volumes by 21.8% (to 20.55 million tons) and Ilichevsky CSP – by 14.6% (to 12.3 million tons) in January-September, 2009 as compared to the same period of the previous year.
