Aktau port cargo turnover up 32% Jan-Sep, 2009
Within 9 months 2009 cargo turnover of RGP Aktauskii International Commercial Seaport (AICSP) (the Aktau port, Kazalhstan) amounted to over 10,210,000 tons of dry and oil cargo. As per statistics data available to PortNews IAA, turnover volumes increased by 32% within the first nine months of 2009 as compared to the corresponding period of 2008. Stevedoring company press-service informed, in January-September, 2009 the plan was 109.8% fulfilled.
RGP AICSP transhipped 1127.8 thousand of dry and oil cargoes September current year which is 99.9% of the planned figures. Here belong oil cargo transhipment – 899.5 thousand tons, steel products – 154.0 thousand tons, ferry vessel cargoes – 15.5 thousand tons, grain – 48.8 thousand tons, other cargoes – 10.0 thousand tons. Shipping turnaround amounted to 158 units in September, 2009.
Total volume of oil and oil products transhipped within 9-month period of 2009 amounted to 8, 384,000 tons. Total volume of dry cargo throughput amounted to 1 million 817.5 thousand tons, including transhipment of 1 million 209.9 thousand tons of steel products, 90 thousand tons of other cargo, 402.4 thousand tons of grain. Ferry vessel shipments volume amounted to 115.2 thousand tons. Within 9 months of 2009 1 thousand 521 vessels have been operated.
The Aktau port is located on the East coast of the Caspian Sea. It is the only seaport in the Republic of Kazakhstan designed for international of various types of dry cargo, oil and oil products.
