Petronas, Gazprom in talks to expand gas ventures
Petgas Trading and Gazprom Marketing and Trading, UK subsidiaries of Malaysia's Petronas and Russia's Gazprom, are in talks to expand gas ventures beyond Britain, Petgas said on Wednesday.
"The companies have expanded the initial area of collaboration to include other gas marketing and trading activities," Petgas said.
"And discussions are on-going in order to deepen and extend the scope of the two companies' relationship which may include ventures beyond the UK gas market."
A spokesman would not comment on the details of the discussions.
Initial collaboration between Petgas and Gazprom involved delivering liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargoes to Britain's Dragon LNG terminal in south Wales in August and September.
"Additional LNG cargoes are now planned through this coming winter and into 2010," Petgas added.
Petgas has a 50 percent share of Dragon LNG's regasification capacity, and the terminal is able to supply a total of 6 billion cubic metres of LNG a year.
Dragon LNG started commercial operations on Sept. 1 and is one of two LNG terminals located in Milford Haven port.
