Seaport of Saint-Petersburg cargo turnover amounts to 8.5 mn tons first 9 months, 2009
Seaport of Saint-Petersburg cargo turnover amounted to 8.5 million tons within 9 months of 2009 which corresponds to the figures of same period previous year, informed Management on foreign and local communications of Seaport of Saint-Petersburg OJSC.
As per the information, cargo turnover negative dynamics was eliminated due to export cargo volumes increase: export throughput grew by 10% (-12 within 3 months, 2009) as compared to the first 9 months of 2008.
Import cargo turnover is currently witnessing a decrease of the cargo handled in big-bags (-88%), containers (-64%), refrigerators (-35%).
There is positive dynamics in the turnover of cast iron handled (+70%), coal (+39%) and steel (+36%).
First Stevedoring Company has handled 3.3 million tons of cargo (-20%), Second Stevedoring Company has operated 1.4 million tons (+14%), Forth Stevedoring Company - 2.8 million tons (-6%). Automobile terminal of Third Stevedoring Company has transhipped 270 cars in September, 2009. Universal Handling Facility in Ust-Luga has handled 0.8 million tons of cargo.
