VMPT cargo turnover remains stable Jan-Sep, 2009
As per the statistics provided by the company’s press-service, cargo turnover of Commercial Seaport of Vladivostok OJSC (VMTP) amounted to 4 million 565.6 thousand in January-September, 2009, which almost corresponds to the figures of the same period in 2008.
Within 9-month period of the current year 3,201.8 thousand tons of export cargo were handled; 684.8 thousand tons of import cargo; 157,643 TEU of containerized cargo, 60,171 TEU of coastal cargo, 47,466 TEU for import, 50006 TEU for export.
VMTP operated 1 million 927.1 thousand tons of cargo in Q III, 2009. 1 million 352.8 thousand tons were exported; 273.9 thousand tons were imported; 300.4 thousand tons of coastal cargo were handled. In July-September, 2009 62,478 TEU of containerized cargo was handled. Export volume amounted to 18,567 TEU, import - 19,357 TEU, coastal cargo - 24,554 TEU.
September, 2009 the port has handled 696.1 thousand tons of cargo. 499.4 thousand tons were exported; 95.4 thousand tons - imported; the volume of coastal cargo amounted to 101.3 thousand tons. In September current year 21,120 TEU of containerized cargo was handled including 8,698 TEU of coastal cargo, 6,820 TEU of import cargo, 5,602 TEU of export cargo.
As per Sergei Lopunov, Operational director of VMTP export cargo transhipment dynamics that took place to the date enabled VMTP to eliminate underrun as compared to the results of the previous year. The volumes of cargo handled in July-September, 2009 increased by 36% as compared to the corresponding period figures of 2008.
Commercial Seaport of Vladivostok OJSC (VMTP) owns and manages the property complex of the Vladivostok port one of Russia’s largest ports in the Far East России. Commercial Port of Vladivostok operates 17 berths including container, passenger, motor car specialized berths. VMPT OJSC is a part of FESCO group. In 2008 VMPT OJSC cargo turnover amounted to 5.915 million tons. 95.6% of VMPT shares are owned by M-Port LLC (Moscow).
