Vanino Commercial Seaport OJSC cargo turnover down 10.5% Jan-Sep, 2009
Cargo turnover of Vanino Commercial Seaport OJSC decreased by 10.5% (to 4 million 546.4 thousand tons) in January-September, 2009 as compare to the corresponding period of 2008. In September, 2009 Vanino Commercial Seaport OJSC handled 553.3 thousand tons of cargo which is 1.5% more than previous year, stevedoring company officially informed.
Within Q III, 2009 2 million 383.5 thousand tons of export cargo were transhipped (+1.7%), including 921.7 thousand tons of timber (-17.8%), 484.4 thousand tons of non-ferrous metals (-11.4%). Coal transhipment volume increased by 2 times (up to 954.3 thousand tons).
913.1 thousand tons of cargo were imported including 891 thousand tons (+2,4%) of alum earth clay.
Within 9-month period of 2009 the volume of coastal cargo amounted to 249.7 thousand tons (87.1% of the previous year figure), including 66.2 thousand tons of transhipped coal, 132.9 thousand tons of containers, 14.9 thousand tons of vehicles and equipment.
In January-September, 2009 1010 vessels were handled, including 438 ferries and 56.6 thousand of railway cars.
Container turnover of the port amounted to 18 thousand 367 TEU in January-September current year.
Vanino Commercial Seaport is the largest stevedoring company of Khabarovsk region. It provides handling and forwarding services. Cargo is delivered via Vanino to the north-eastern regions of Russia, Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, USA and other countries of APR.
