SCZD cargo throughput via ports increases by 2.6% Jan-Sep, 2009
Export-import cargo throughput via ports served by the North-Caucasian Railways (SCZD, branch of RZD OJSC) increased within 9 months, 2009. As per the press-center information over 34 million tons of cargo was handled, which is 102.6% of the corresponding period , previous year.
The volume of cargo handled in Ust-Donetsk increased by almost 90% (over 459 thousand tons) within 9 months. Most part of the volume falls onto sulphur transhipment through Aksaraiskaya station to Tunisia.
The volume of cargo handled in the port of Novorossiisk increased by 17.4% – более 25 million tons fall onto mineral fertilizers, ore, non-ferrous metals and grain cargoes.
The volume of cargo handled in the port of Taganrog increased by 20.4% (over 1.7 million tons) as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. Main share of increase fell onto fuel oil, coal and ore.
As per the information provided, the overall decreased of SCZD cargo throughput within 9 months, 2009 amounted to 22.6% (to 47.5million tons) as compared to the corresponding period previous year.
